Associate pastor job opportunity

Mt. Elon Baptist Church is seeking a new Associate Pastor to lead our youth and recreation ministry into its next season of spiritual growth and community impact. We are prayerfully seeking the person God is calling to be our next leader.


  • Overview


    This position will serve as a key leader in overseeing and nurturing the spiritual growth of youth at Mt. Elon Baptist Church. This role is designed with a focus on two primary areas: 80% of the role will be dedicated to Youth Ministry (6th-12th grade), and 20% will be focused on Recreation Ministry. The Associate Pastor of Youth and Recreation will work closely with parents, volunteers, and ministry teams to create a Christ-centered environment that fosters growth, discipleship, and strong relationships with both youth and families. We are in the final phase of our building project and hope to be in our new Family Life Center before spring of 2025.




  • Youth Ministry (80%) (20-30 youth)


    • Lead and Oversee Youth Ministry: Oversee all aspects of youth ministry for youth ages 6th-12th grade, including Sunday services, VBS, special events, and summer camps. 
    • Teach: Plan and lead a weekly youth gathering, including Sunday school, Bible studies, group discussions, and activities that challenge and encourage youth in their walk with Christ.
    • Build Relationships: Develop deep, lasting relationships with youth, helping them navigate the challenges of adolescence and growing in their faith. Spend time connecting with students outside of weekly gatherings (such as school events, extracurricular activities, etc.).
    • Youth Events & Activities: Organize and lead events, retreats, camps and mission trips that foster community, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
    • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve in various roles across all youth ministry areas. Ensure they are well-prepared, supported, and equipped to teach and engage youth in a safe, loving, and effective way. 
    • Family Engagement: Develop and maintain communication with parents, helping to equip them in their role as the primary spiritual leaders of their children. Engage in and promote relationships with parents of youth. 


  • Recreation Ministry (20%)



    • Lead and Oversee Recreation Ministry: Creation, development, implementation and oversight of all recreation programs for children, youth, and adults. 
    • Implement- Carry out at least one annual ministry using Mt. Elon’s family life center.
    • Plan and Coordinate- Facilitate and coordinate the care and storage of the Family Life Center’s equipment, supplies, inventory, and resources.
